Labor Donated • Parts at Cost

Start an Adaptive Golf Referral

We donate our labor for adaptive club work and charge only the cost of the parts and materials used. We discuss and agree on those costs before work begins.

Golf equipment adapted to the person.

Some people want to try golf but find a standard club difficult to hold or swing. Others enjoyed playing until an injury, disability or change in mobility made their equipment harder to use.

At Starks Golf Club Works in Murray, Utah, we are developing our adaptive club work around a simple idea: equipment adapted to the person. Our focus is clubs built or modified to fit the individual golfer's needs.

Talk with Gary about adaptive clubs

Start with the golfer. Work with the equipment.

The first step is listening. What would you like to try? What makes your current clubs difficult to use? Is the grip hard to hold? Does the length or weight make the club awkward?

Depending on the person's needs and the club, we can explore:

  • Grip size, shape and build-up adjustments.
  • Shaft and component options to adjust club weight and feel.
  • Longer or shorter clubs, with attention to the whole club.
  • Other practical club setup changes suited to the individual.

We are not locked into one standard setup. Each project starts with an individual assessment of what is feasible. Our work is golf clubs and club adaptations; we do not manufacture prosthetics or provide medical treatment.

You don't have to be an experienced golfer

Our aim includes the everyday person who wants to try a few swings, join family or friends, or return to a game they thought they had lost.

You don't need a low handicap or an expensive set of clubs to start the conversation. Our business is veteran-owned, and this effort welcomes people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Donated labor. Parts and materials at cost.

Gary donates his labor for this adaptive club work. Parts and materials are provided at cost, with the proposed work and costs agreed before anything begins.

We want to help people explore a practical next step, whether that means adapting an existing club or discussing a club built around their needs.

How we work together

  1. Talk about your golf goals and the equipment challenges you experience.
  2. Assess your current clubs or discuss a suitable build, and agree on the work and parts costs.
  3. Make the agreed club adaptation and gather your feedback.
  4. Discuss whether further adjustments would help.

The golfer's feedback helps shape the work. There is no single modification that suits everyone.

For charities and community organizations

We would like to hear from charities, veteran groups, disability organizations, community organizations and adaptive recreation programs that know someone who wants to explore golf but struggles with standard clubs.

We are looking for people we can help and organizations that can refer them.

  • Connect a golfer: Introduce someone who wants to discuss clubs built or adapted to their needs.
  • Share the opportunity: Pass this page along to your community or program team.
  • Start a conversation: Tell us about the equipment barriers people in your program experience.

Our focus is practical golf club adaptations, with donated labor and parts at cost. Contact Gary to discuss a referral or possible partnership.

Built from a personal commitment

Owner Gary Stark is a veteran with a VA-recognized service-connected disability. He started Starks Golf Club Works to make golf more affordable and welcoming for everyday people. This work extends that purpose: practical equipment changes, personal attention, and learning directly from the golfer.

Looking further ahead

In the future, we would like to explore how adapted equipment and AI-enabled glasses might support golfers with visual impairments. This is a longer-term idea and is not a product or service we currently offer.
